Nothing. You are doing exactly what a nervous system that has never had reliable co-regulation is supposed to do at this stage of the work.
Mammals do not learn to regulate by reading about regulation. They learn by being inside the regulated field of another mammal whose system is steady enough to lend out. We call this co-regulation. For the first weeks or months of real somatic work, the calm you feel in session is not yet generated by you. It is borrowed from the room.
Borrowed is not fake.
Borrowed is the prerequisite. Your nervous system has to feel a state it has not been able to produce on its own before it can begin to produce that state on its own. This is true at four months old and it is true at forty-four.
You are not regressing on Wednesday. You are running out of the loaned signal and waiting for the next one.
What changes the gap from days to durable.
Three things, in this order: more repetitions in the regulated field, a short between-session practice that re-pings the state from the inside, and parts-level work on whatever is consistently knocking the state out by midweek.
